Dr Tea Petrin, BSc in Economics

Dr Tea Petrin was born in Celje on 4 April 1944. In 1969 she graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. In 1971 she finished her post-graduate study in economics at the Louisiana State University in New Orleans, USA, and in 1981 took her PhD in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. Tea Petrin is a professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. From 1989 to 1991 she headed the Study and Consulting Centre at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. She was the founder as well as the head of the post-graduate entrepreneurial studies programme (1991) and the head of the Research Centre of the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana (1991-1992). As an expert in economics she was an associate counsellor to the Committee of Small Business of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia (1987-1990) and counsellor to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia (1992-1993). As a guest professor she lectured at the University of Massachusetts (1988-1989, 1993-1994) and at the University of California at Berkeley (1992). She advised the Regional Office for Europe FAO UN on the rural development programme and entrepreneurial studies programmes (1991-1994), and was also involved with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in assessing the new entrepreneurial financial potential of Slovenia (1994) as well as in drawing up a proposal to establish the Agency for Reconstruction and Development of the Republic of Slovenia and the Development Fund of the Republic of Slovenia (1990-1991). She is fluent in English.
