Frankie Yankovic is regarded by many as America's polka king. He was the first to spread the fame of Slovene polka - arranged to suit the American taste and is now best known as the "Cleveland-style" American polka.

The period after World War II was undoubtedly marked by one of the most prominent Slovene-American musicians, who was the first to spread the fame of Slovene polka - arranged to suit the American taste - throughout the United States. He also won recognition for the musical rendition of the polka which differs from the so-called "country polka" and is best known as the "Cleveland style" American polka.

He is regarded by many as America's polka king. His group's musical excellence is reflected in a Grammy award (the first given for polka music) and several gold records.
